Two Internship positions with Need To Know News for Spring, 2013

Need To Know News (NTKN) is a technology-driven news organization. We specialize in providing the fastest news for the trading and financial industry. Our reporters in the US, Europe and Asia get news directly from government and private sources, and we distribute it to our customers over our low-latency network. We have internship opportunities in software development and system administration.
Software Development
Most of our software development work is either server processes of various sorts, written in core Java, or internal web sites, written using Grails, for information entry and administration. Your work could range from a program to process data from China, to working on the scheduling system that drives our workflow, to adding new functionality to our internal user administration website. Qualifications:
- Experience writing programs in core Java
- Familiarity with Linux
- Experience with TCP/IP and network programming is a plus.
- Experience with JUnit and unit testing methodologies is a plus.
System Administration
Work with our system administrators to keep our hundreds of real and virtual machines running smoothly. The particularly projects you would work on depend on your background and interests, but a current project is migrating our monitoring system from Zenoss to Nagios.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with basic Linux administration. CentOS or Redhat is a plus.
- Scripting ability (shell, Perl, or Python)
